York Rite

The York Rite is a series of additional Masonic degrees a Master Mason may pursue after completing the three degrees of Craft (Blue Lodge) Masonry. It is made up of three bodies, each conferring its own set of degrees:

• Chapter (Royal Arch Masons) — four degrees continuing the story begun in the Craft degrees.
• Council (Cryptic Masons) — three degrees bridging Chapter and Commandery.
• Commandery (Knights Templar) — chivalric orders open to Christian Master Masons.
