- Lodge
- Both the group of Masons meeting in a place, and the room or building they meet in.
- Worshipful Master
- A lodge's presiding officer, elected annually. “Worshipful” is an old English title of respect, not a religious one.
- Warden
- One of two officers (Senior and Junior) who assist the Worshipful Master in running the lodge.
- Degree
- A stage of initiation. There are three: Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason.
- Entered Apprentice
- The first degree, and the point at which a candidate formally becomes a Mason.
- Fellow Craft
- The second degree, focused on the pursuit of knowledge.
- Master Mason
- The third and highest degree of Craft (Blue Lodge) Freemasonry.
- Grand Lodge
- The governing body for Freemasonry within a state or jurisdiction, to which individual lodges belong.
- A.F. & A.M.
- "Ancient Free and Accepted Masons" — one of the traditional names lodges use, alongside "F. & A.M."
- Petition
- The formal written application a candidate submits to request membership in a lodge.
- Tyler
- The officer who guards the lodge's door during meetings, ensuring only qualified members enter.
- York Rite
- A series of additional Masonic degrees and bodies (Chapter, Council, Commandery) a Master Mason may join after the three Craft degrees.
